In last friday's media production session, we listened to different to a radio station of our choice, and we analysed our chosen stations. The station I chose was BBC radio 1Xtra. This station is primarily focused on showcasing the newest artists in "Urban music" scene, with genres ranging from hiphop to drum and bass and house music. 1Xtra is based on a playlist during the daytime, with different presenters at different times. After 7pm, 1Xtra doesn't use a playlist as the DJs chose a selection of new music, with the 9pm-3am slots dedicated to one genre, which is different for each day of the week. I had to look up the listening figures for 1Xtra, but they don't seem to be available on line.
